SoC (System on Chip) sensors, which are built right on to the image sensor at the silicon level, are designed to work perfectly with the sensor they are attached to. This compact, one-chip solution, with integrated image processing algorithms, is easy to integrate and to adjust.

(SoC: System on Chip)


Non- SoC(non-System on Chip) sensors allows random pixel access and window-of-interest readout for applications requiring image compression, motion detection, or target tracking. High dynamic range image sensors like the Aptina (MT9V022,032,023,033,024,034) with regional exposure weighting and regional gain setting can go even further in helping digital signal processors (DSPs or FPGAs) reproduce typically hard-to-distinguish details and provide enhanced imaging capabilities.
Note: The image pre- and post-processing have to be done on external units! Helion provides FPGA-Boards and image-processing IP for this tasks.
